Cigs

The massive impact cigarettes have had on today’s society is undeniable.  They changed out definition of ‘Kool’ for smokers and non-smokers alike.  The aroma of cigarettes saturates films like, Casablanca (Bogart 1942), Good Bad and The Ugly (Eastwood 1966), and cigarettes and coffee (Jarmusch 2003).  These films have a musk around them, the act of smoking feels natural to the characters, as if it were part of their personality.  Clint Eastwood would not have been as tough without them, Humphrey Bogart not a suave and Jarmusch not quite as art house.  Cigarettes within the films promote a perception of cigarettes as being cool, fun and different.
